This very beautiful stone farmhouse is situated on a hilltop, with wonderful views over the Chianti countryside and the castles of Tornano and Lecchi, and close to the small town of Gaiole in Chianti. The property is accessed by an unsealed road (unsuitable for low-slung cars) to a covered car park. The large and well maintained grounds (5000 sq.m) include a swimming pool (12 x 6m, 2.5 m deep), an Italian bocce court, a delightful fishpond and a herb garden which guests may use. |

| Exterior description |
The house, dating from 1100, has the typical Tuscan features of wood beamed ceilings, cotto floors and whitewashed walls. Recently renovated to a very high standard by the current owners, large glass doors have been added in the dining and living rooms, connecting the inside of the house with the garden, as well as optimizing the beautiful countryside views. Just across from the entrance to the house is a beautiful covered loggia, fully furnished as an external living/dining room with stereo, a summer kitchen, a bathroom and sauna. |

The rooms are exquisitely furnished throughout. The bedrooms have very large beds, with orthopaedic mattresses, and en-suite bathrooms in Carrara marble. There is also a very impressive professional kitchen. Further amenities include a large satellite television, telephone and fast internet connection. Central heating is included in the price and there are two baby cots.
Ground floor
Entrance hall. Off the entrance hall is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower). Across the entrance hall and up one step is a very pretty rustic dining room with fireplace and woodburning stove. Spacious kitchen, fully equipped with gas hob, gas oven, wood oven, dishwasher, food processor and may other kitchen appliances. Next to the kitchen is a larder and utility room with large fridge, freezer and two washing machines. Formal dining room with large glass doors opening to outside. Spacious, comfortable living room with piano and large glass doors opening to the front of the house.
First Floor
Large double bedroom. Bathroom with bath and shower. Two spacious double bedrooms accessed by an external stone staircase and a covered loggia. Both these bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with bath. A door on the right of the loggia opens to another living room with fireplace and single sofa-bed. Off this room is another double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (bath).
Staff
Daily maid service is included in the price. Bath towels are changed every two days. The caretakers speak both English and German, and are willing to arrange meals for guests at additional charge. This service must be requested at time of booking. |
