Villa exterior:

Uplands Homestead, built in 1905, is a restored farmhouse and features three spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and private verandas. Two rooms have bathrooms with a ball and claw bath and one room has a bathroom with an oval stone bath. Uplands is for the exclusive use of six guests, and is perfect for families, friends and small groups. The interior design is based on 1820s Settler style with modern comfortable finishes.

Villa interior:

Guest areas continue the Settler style and include a sitting and dining room, farm-style kitchen, air-conditioned comfort, outdoor dining under the African stars and an inviting large swimming pool and gazebo.

Activities
Morning, afternoon/evening and night game-drives in private open game viewing vehicle, guided river-walking, bush sundowners and picnics on the Reserve, fishing, rhino tracking, visits to hides, archaeological, battlefield and historical tours to Grahamstown and surroundings. Other activities include Pioneer Cultural evenings and storytelling with Kwandwe’s resident historian, and bush breakfasts/dinners – weather permitting. Scenic coastal flights can also be arranged.

Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is located in the beautiful and historically rich Eastern Cape, surrounded by 20 000 hectares/50 000 acres of exclusive, malaria-free wilderness and featuring 30kms of privately owned banks of the Great Fish River. Kwandwe means ‘Place of the Blue Crane’ in Xhosa, and is home to a population of these majestic endangered birds. A CC Africa resort.

On 30 kilometres of privately owned Great Fish River frontage, Game-rich country with Big Five (black & white rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard), kudu, springbok, eland, red hartebeest, giraffe and impala, A paradise for bird watchers, the Fish Eagle and endangered Blue Crane are among a wide variety of birds found on the Reserve, Nightlife @ Kwandwe is a Specialist Safari offering excellent nocturnal viewing – aardwolf and aardvark are regularly seen, Immensely rich in history. The area was the site of many historical battles between early South African settlers and the indigenous inhabitants, It is the perfect add-on to an itinerary featuring Cape Town and the Garden Route, concluding with a flight out of Port Elizabeth, Historical and cultural trips to Grahamstown and surroundings, Malaria-free destination, From July – Sept the landscape is ablaze with the orange and yellow of flowering aloes, Private – with own chef and butler.
