Villa exterior:

The split-level main lodge is an ensemble of glass and stone curves with walls of windows maximising the awesome desertscape. There are quiet hideaways, viewing decks, a cocktail bar, fireplace, airy dining room, well stocked wine cellar, main sitting room and terrace, mezzanine library stocked with books and CDs with viewing deck, gift shop, observatory and rim-flow pool.

Villa interior:

Each air-conditioned suite is decorated to complement the majestic hues of the oldest living desert in the world. Boasting a private veranda, split level sitting area with fireplace, star-viewing window above the bed, en suite glass-encased bathroom with shower and an outdoor shower for starlit bathing. The suites are equipped with personal bar, CD system and a compact telescope.

Villa location:

In the northern section of the pristine NamibRand Nature Reserve (180 000 hectares/445 000 acres) on the eastern boundary of the Namib Naukluft National Park, near Sossusvlei. As this is a privately owned reserve, access is exclusive to guests.

ACCESS
By charter flight to Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge's private airstrip or by two-wheel drive vehicle on good gravel roads (Swakopmund – 380km/236 miles, Windhoek – 360km/224 miles). The lodge collects guests from and returns them to the airstrip, which is six minutes from the lodge.

ACTIVITIES
Scenic drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles on the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Closed air-conditioned vehicle excursions to Sossusvlei and the Sesriem Canyon (approximately 6-hour round trip). Guided nature walks and marked hiking trails. Guided four-wheel motorbike (ATV) excursions into the dunes. Stargazing from the lodge's sophisticated observatory. An optional extra at additional cost is hot-air ballooning and scenic flights over the Namib Desert. Guided four- wheel motorbike (All Terrain Vehicle) excursions in the dunes, Desert dining (not in winter months), Early morning hot air ballooning over the desert is available as an optional extra, Scenic flights can be arranged by special request and at additional cost.

The NamibRand Nature Reserve is privately owned and extends over 180 000 hectares/445 000 acres of breathtaking desert wilderness, Only guests have the privilege of exploring this area of the Namib Desert on scenic drives and guided walks, Excursions to Sossusvlei – the world’s highest dunes, Oryx, springbok, aardwolf, ostrich, hyena, bat-eared fox, Cape fox and the endemic Hartmann's mountain zebra are plentiful as they thrive in this environment, Stargazing with highly sophisticated telescope, An expansive star-gazing window over the bed.
